Ogassa and Sant Joan de les Abadesses have an authorization from the Generalitat to be able to practice paragliding taking advantage of the unevenness of the surroundings, the climate, the wind and the orientation of the valley.
The location of the town, spread between the southern slopes of Taga and the Serra Cavallera, to the N, and the northern slopes of the Puig Estela mountain range and the Castelltallat hill, to the SE, means that we find green pastures, pine forests, oaks and beeches, and all kinds of unevenness.
For lovers of mountain biking, Ripollès offers you several circuits with great gradients and difficulty. Ripollès BTT Center offers you 21 approved and signposted routes, with varying degrees of difficulty. You will find the Welcome Point at the La Ruta del Ferro rural hostel, located in the Parc de l'Estació de Sant Joan, and it offers information on the routes and bicycle rental, among others.
The Iron and Carbon Route is a 12 km greenway route. It follows the old route of the train track and the wagons that brought the coal from the Ogassa mines. It is ideal for families, by bike or on foot, due to its low difficulty.
In Sant Joan de les Abadesses, salmon fishing is practiced in the Ter river, between the Ribamala and Colònia Llaudet locks. Fishing must be done within the fishing season and a license and permit are required. There is also a hunting association, Societat de Caça El Pirineu, which practices hunting and organizes target shooting days.
The Municipal Swimming Pool and the padel and tennis courts are on Avinguda La Plana s/n and are managed by Club Piscines i Esports Abadessenc. The pool is outdoor and is only open in summer. It is 12 x 25 meters and has changing rooms with showers, an infirmary, toilets and a bar.
Ground field with soccer goals, with dimensions of 25 x 55 meters, and with artificial lighting. It is located right next to the Alberg Ruta del Ferro, and the Ruta del Ferro and Carbon greenway. Access to the facilities is free and no reservation is required to use the space.
The first team of the competes there. C.E. Abadessenc (2nd Catalan group 1), Abadessenc B (4th Catalan group 27) and the veterans. The different categories of Fundescam grassroots football also play there. It is a 100 x 62 meter field of artificial grass with artificial light. There are 4 collective changing rooms with showers, and 2 individual changing rooms with showers for the referees.
The Skate Park is located next to the basketball court, in Plaça Barcelona. It consists of three soundproof modules: two ramps, quarter pipe and smooth bank models, and a launch with railing.
It is made of concrete, is located on the side of the Municipal Sports Pavilion, in Plaça Barcelona, and has dimensions of 15 x 28 square meters, and has artificial lighting. The artificial lights are in operation during the winter, from Monday to Thursday, until 9 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays, until 10 pm. In the summer, all these times are extended by one hour.
It has a paved track with a surface treatment of 40 x 20 meters. The stand has a capacity of 380 seats. Futsal, basketball, handball, tennis and volleyball can be practiced. It has 4 collective changing rooms with showers, 2 individual changing rooms with showers, toilets, bar service and Internet connection.
